Carrigaline Rugby Club

Carrigaline RFC was founded in 1994 as a junior club, (J3), playing in the South Munster leagues with one adult team. For 13 years the club continued as a social adult based team comprising mainly of players from Carrigaline.
In the late summer of 2007, an under-age rugby section was started by local parents with the hope of developing a new club from the large catchment area of Carrigaline.
Training commenced at a temporary pitch and training area in Ballyorban, Monkstown (shared with Douglas Rugby Football Club). Ballyorban is approximately 5km from Carrigaline Town. Initially, the under 14 age group was targeted. Interest from players in the other age groups quickly developed and this formed the beginnings of the mini rugby section. A number of new coaches joined to help the initiative develop over the course of the season
In September 2008 under-age training moved from Ballyorban to the Carrigaline Community School pitch in the centre of the town. As a result of the clubs new found proximity, playing numbers doubled over the following three months and grew steadily for the remainder of the season. By the end of the 2008/2009 season the club had about 100 registered players.
