Carrigaline Athletics Club

Carrigaline Road Runners club was founded in 2012 and initially operated as an adult road runners club. The founding of the club coincided with the inaugural Great Railway Run charity event which continues to be supported by the club.
After seeing a big uptake in adult runners, the club developed a Juvenile section in 2015. The Juvenile section initially rented a training pitch from Carrigaline United soccer club for one year before moving to the grass pitch at Carrigaline Community School and in 2018 the Juvenile club were required to move training grounds again to Carrigaline GAA where they currently train from April to October. In 2019 the club was renamed to Carrigaline Athletics Club.
Carrigaline AC has seen a dramatic rise in membership since its foundation in 2012 with over 120 registered Juvenile athletes and over 80 registered adult runners. Our juvenile athletes have competed in all county track and cross-country events in recent years and have on occasion achieved podium finishes at many of these events. Our adult runners compete in numerous local and national road racing events, including Irish and international marathons.
Over the past few years, we have organised multiple Couch -To 5k events for adults, these have been a great success where we have seen many people take up running as an active pastime. We organise a Monthly Run-The -Line event which is a free timed 5k race which is open to the public to participate and is held on the Carrigaline -Crosshaven Greenway on the first Saturday morning of each month.
